Stretcher Bar 65 mm — non-standard lengths 101–149 cm, with slot
65 mm Stretcher Bars (per piece) – Made in the Netherlands | Free wedges | No glue or nails | Craftsmanship since 1932
Our 65 mm stretcher bars are crafted in the Netherlands, drawing on woodworking expertise passed down since 1932. The result is reliable quality, precise joints and excellent stability.
We use premium spruce, carefully selected and triple-laminated to minimise warping. Timber is 100% PEFC-certified (CU-PEFC-807830) from responsibly managed forests. Assembly is simple thanks to the tongue-and-groove joint — no glue or nails required. Wedges are always included free of charge.
Oils, acrylics, tempera or watercolour — a stable foundation matters. With 65 mm bars, your canvas gets a professional base that lasts.
Why 65 mm?
- Engineered for large canvases requiring extra rigidity.
- Ideal for artworks displayed without a frame.
- Easy to upgrade with centre brace(s) or a cross brace for maximum strength.
- Tool-free assembly via a professional tongue-and-groove joint.
- Free wedges with every order.
Order individually = full flexibility
Because bars are sold per piece, you can build any frame size — standard or custom.
Examples:
- 108 × 150 cm → order 2 × 108 + 2 × 150 cm. For (near) square, add a cross brace.
- 53 × 120 cm → order 2 × 53 + 2 × 120 cm + 53 cm centre brace.
- 100 × 80 cm → order 2 × 100 + 2 × 80 cm (usually no brace needed).
Available online up to 2 metres. Longer sizes on request. Frames over 2 metres are typically fitted with a double cross.
When to use a centre brace
From 50 cm onwards, our bars have a pre-cut slot for a brace. Use a centre brace when the longest side > 120 cm or for elongated rectangular formats.
When to use a cross brace
Choose a cross brace if both height and width > 100 cm and the canvas is (almost) square. Two braces interlock like a puzzle and slot into the frame.
