Stretcher Bar 65 mm
65 mm Stretcher Bars (Sold Individually) – Made in the Netherlands | Free Wedges | No Glue or Nails | Craftsmanship Since 1932
Our 65 mm stretcher bars are crafted in the Netherlands with woodworking expertise passed down since 1932. Expect lasting quality, perfect joints and outstanding stability.
Made from premium spruce, carefully selected and triple-laminated to minimise warping. The timber is 100% PEFC-certified (CU-PEFC-807830) from responsibly managed forests. Assembly is easy thanks to the tongue-and-groove connection — no glue or nails required. Wedges are included free of charge.
Whether you work in oil, acrylic, tempera or watercolour, a reliable foundation matters. These 65 mm bars give your canvas a professional base that lasts.
Why choose 65 mm?
- Built for large canvases needing extra rigidity.
- Ideal when the artwork is shown unframed.
- Easily upgraded with centre brace(s) or a cross brace.
- Tool-free assembly using a professional tongue-and-groove joint.
- Free wedges with every order.
Order individually = full flexibility
Because bars are sold per piece, you can build any frame size — standard or custom.
Examples:
- 108 × 150 cm → order 2 × 108 + 2 × 150 cm. For near-square: add a cross brace.
- 53 × 120 cm → order 2 × 53 + 2 × 120 cm + centre brace 53 cm.
- 100 × 80 cm → order 2 × 100 + 2 × 80 cm (usually no brace needed).
Available online up to 2 metres. Longer sizes on request. Frames above 2 metres are typically fitted with a double cross.
When to use a centre brace?
From 50 cm upwards, our bars include a pre-cut slot for a brace. Use a centre brace when the longest side > 120 cm or for elongated rectangular formats.
When to use a cross brace?
Choose a cross brace when both height and width > 100 cm and the canvas is (almost) square. Two braces interlock in the middle and slot into the frame like a puzzle.
