The Three Degrees
“The Three Degrees” – Still Life with Strawberries
In this work, A.J. Oppedijk brings three strawberries together in a subtle play of light, colour, and composition. The title “The Three Degrees” hints at both their arrangement and their character: each fruit has its own tone, its own light, its own moment of ripeness. What first appears simple unfolds into a study of balance, vitality, and impermanence — an ode to the everyday with a touch of warmth and humour.
Technique: Oil on linen

The warm red of the strawberries glows against the deep background. Refined, controlled brushwork reveals the sheen and texture of the fruit. Oppedijk captures not only form but liveliness — the instant when simplicity becomes elegance.
