Stolen Marbles
“Stolen Marbles” – Still Life with Marbles
A row of marbles in gentle studio light: glass, colour and reflection quietly answering one another. Anne Jurjen (Ajo) Oppedijk reveals the inner world of glass — veils, tiny air bubbles and streams of light — like small universes on the table. The everyday gains weight without becoming loud.

This work is an ode to simplicity: beauty lives in what you can see every day — if you take a moment to truly look. With his characteristic, realistic brushwork, Anne Jurjen (Ajo) captures not only the sheen of glass and the colour at each marble’s core, but also the quiet around it. “Stolen Marbles” gently plays with memory and play: a childhood moment reduced to light, form and calm.
